December 2018
We use our December meeting for a potluck style Christmas party. Of course, we all enjoy having a meal out with friends and the socializing. Seems the food is extra delicious trying other one’s favorite recipes!
We had a gift exchange game by bringing a half yard of fabric to exchange.
Our charity gifts that we could bring included:
- Pillowcases and/or AA batteries for the new local women’s homeless shelter
- food donations or cash gifts for the local food pantry – We gave $180 in cash donations and the guild matched that amount from our treasury. They were very appreciative!
The last few years we’ve had a PhD challenge. PhD in the quilt world stands for “Projects Half Done”! This end of year meeting included a drawing for a big prize from the entries of those who had completed the projects they submitted at the beginning of the year that they wanted to complete. For 2018, the prize was won by Georgiana.
During supper, we had word games to complete if we wanted and Kenda won that prize. A highlight of the business meeting was that all members that had paid their 2019 dues were given a packet from Virginia with our brand new 30th anniversary pin and a pattern to make a new nametag if we wished for the new year.
Following the business meeting, the fabric exchange game was played followed by a sing along.
Great fun and a great night to get to know the other members better.
