Finding Your Voice with Stormy Liston

Members at the August Petunia City Quilt Guild meeting enjoyed listening to Stormy Liston share her journey in quilting, a journey that began in the 70’s. She defines quilting as a place where math and magic merge. She reminds members there are NO QUILT POLICE and that our best friend is the seam ripper and should be looked at as a “refining tool” rather than the many negative connotations associated with a seam ripper.

Stormy shared several examples of quilts she has made and how each of them assisted her in finding her voice as she experimented with contrast, color, pattern and scale. She discovered orange is a neutral as she found liberty in her quilting.

Stormy encouraged the group to find out what you like about a pattern or fabric and make it your own.
